So I was doing that cleaning thing today and stumbled upon something from a retreat I went to a few years back. It made me really think about today's society and how sad it is that we live in such poverty here in America not necessarily poverty poverty although many people do, but the loss of love and close relationships.
From 1985 to 2004, the number of people saying there is no one with whom they discuss important matters nearly tripled.
Now, 24.6 percent report they have no close friends or family- that's one in four Americans.
Another,19.6 percent say they have just one close friend or family member.
That means 43 percent of Americans have either no or just one close friend or family member, a number that has doubled since 1985.
-sigh- We live in a society where we don't trust people or people don't want to make deeper connections where they can talk about important stuff. That is just a sad thing.
