You may say I'm a dreamer but what you say doesn't define me
There are times everyday in my life when someone puts me down, puts down an ethnic group, a race, a culture, a friend, a family member, a lifestyle or just another human being. It is in times like that when I am truly and deeply saddened for the entire human race. For these thoughts show how truly close minded people can be.Yes, it is true that people may have a different skin color, or may believe something different, or may have different problems than you yourself may have but that is no excuse to treat others like less of a person than you. It really disturbs me when people use the N word lightly, or make Jew/women/cripple/____insert any other kinds of discriminating terms here___ jokes. Its just plain rude. If we truly want a better world we better start acting like it. We need to clean up our jokes, comments, and actions. Through doing this we will set an example to those around us. By asking them to stop saying and doing these things we will slowly start to see a change in the world. After all Gandhi said it right, "We must be the change we wish the see in the world." Now I'm not saying I have been completely innocent and have never made any discriminatory comments but it is my dream to see a world that has more tolerance for people who are different then themselves. It is my dream that people one day will treat each other as equals.
